The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government has issued a circular https://www.pubad.gov.lk/web/images/circulars/2024/E/1704894231-03-2024-e.pdf on January 10, 2024, announcing the revision of the cost of living allowance and the recovery of contributions to the widows’/widowers’ and orphans’ pensions fund in the public service as per the budget proposals for 2024.
According to the circular, the cost of living allowance for public servants will be increased by Rs. 10,000 per month, which will be paid in two instalments. The first instalment of Rs. 5,000 will be added to the existing allowance of Rs. 7,800 from January to March 2024, making it Rs. 12,800. The second instalment of Rs. 5,000 will be added from April 2024, making it Rs. 17,800.
